GB News presenter Patrick Christys hit out at Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy for his tribute to former MP Ann Widdecombe. She had been found dead in her home in Devon on Thursday, July 9th, with “serious injuries”. Cornwall police revealed the case had become a murder investigation. A 28-year-old white male has since been arrested after the case was handed over to the counter terrorism police.
It has been announced that her death was a “targeted attack”, sparking many questions about the safety of politicians. Following the latest police statement from Head of Counter Terrorism Policing, Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor, Patrick Christys hit out at Labour politicians who had previously spoken out against Widdecombe. He said on his show: “Labour MPs have a brass neck saying nice things about Ann Widdecombe, giving some of the horrible, hateful stuff some of their colleagues have said about her and her party while she was alive. Let’s take David Lammy.

“Well, back in 2019, he called Ann Widdecombe poisonous after she said that science may produce an answer to being gay. He said bigots like Anne Widdicombe want to drag us back to the 19th century, throwing minorities out in the cold along the way.
“But he’s got form, though, hasn’t he, Lammy? Here he is saying that Brexiteers, of which, of course, Anne Widdecombe was one, were worse than Nazis,” as the show played the clip of Lammy on the Andrew Marr Show.
Patrick continued: “And then he was forced to issue a clarification after he said that Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform, of which Anne was a member, flirted with the Hitler Youth,” then showing a previous interview of Lammy live on BBC.
The GB News star raged: “Well, today Lammy came out and slammed this, which is a Green Party activist, I believe, caught attending a transgender rights rally where some protesters repeatedly stabbed darts into an effigy of Andy Burnham.
“And in response, David Lammy comes out and he says this: ‘This disgraceful act took place just days after the murder of a senior politician, the third of my colleagues, in a decade. It is a shared responsibility of all of us in our democracy to call and condemn violence and threats against politicians. I hope the Green Party leadership takes appropriate action at this time.’
Patrick furiously finished: “Well, I’m sorry, but I don’t really think Lammy is in much of a position to take the high ground here, do you?”
