Jeremy Clarkson’s pub has been targeted by vegan activists who set a realistic-looking dog alight on a barbecue. PETA activists set up shop outside The Farmer’s Dog in Burford, Oxfordshire – Jeremy’s country pub, which prides itself on only serving British produce. The Clarkson’s Farm star, 66, opened his pub in 2024 and documented the process on his Prime Video show.

The vegan activists set up a fake barbecue along with a sign that read “Wouldn’t eat the Farmer’s Dog? Why eat a pig? Go vegan!” along with a realistic stuffed dog on top. The body of the dog looked like it had been set alight, while its face remained untouched – making for a grisly image.

PETA Senior Campaign Manager Kate Werner said of the campaign: “Pigs are playful, intelligent individuals who feel pain and fear, love their families, and value their own lives, just like dogs do.

“Clarkson says he’s ‘always been fond of pigs’, and he – and other patrons – ought to put that fondness into practice and leave pigs off their plates. Because there’s no more reason to eat a pig than a dog.”

PETA says “pigs dream when they sleep, recognise their own names, and show empathy for other pigs who are happy or distressed [but] they spend most of their lives confined to filthy, crowded sheds before being sent to abattoirs.”

Research by the charity claims that every person who goes vegan saves almost 200 animals from slaughter per year.

It isn’t the first time PETA has targeted Clarkson in one of their high-profile stunts. Last December, they gifted him a “Christmassacre” jumper, which featured a Christmas tree made up of slaughtered pigs and covered in red to look like blood.

Clarkson has never publicly responded to the charity. Express.co.uk has contacted his representatives for comment.
