A huge fire has erupted at an industrial unit in Brislington, Bristol, with dozens of firefighters rushing to the scene to battle the blaze. Footage taken at the scene shows a dramatic “explosion” which was also heard by eyewitnesses as the huge blaze tore through the building on Emery Road. Thick plumes of black smoke were sent into the sky. Businesses in the surrounding area were evacuated as emergency services responded.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to the fire at 2.27pm, with firefighters from Hicks Gate, Temple, Kingswood, Avonmouth, Yate, Bath, Patchway, Bedminster and Nailsea sent to the scene. The fire service has urged people to avoid the area where possible, while residents and businesses nearby have been told to keep their windows and doors closed. The fire has since been brought under control however crews will remain overnight.

Another business evacuated due to huge fire
Another business confirmed it was evacuated as the emergency response unfolded.
Boca Teamwear Ltd said it had been asked to evacuate its building due to the fire on Emery Road and was forced to close for the day.
The company told customers: “Please don’t travel to collect any orders this afternoon.”
A number of businesses in the surrounding area have been evacuated or forced to close because of the blaze.

Fire now under control
The blaze is now under control, the fire service has confirmed.
In an update at 7.20pm, Avon Fire and Rescue Service said it had scaled back its response to eight fire engines.
Crews will remain at the scene overnight to monitor hot spots and ensure the blaze is fully extinguished.
The fire service had earlier deployed 16 fire engines to the incident.
