Donald Trump has called out two of the UK’s biggest problems following his first conversation with the new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham. On Thursday (September 3), the US President sat down with GB News presenter Beverley Turner to discuss the Republican leader’s relationship with the UK. Despite tensions rising over the Falklands, the politician revealed that his first impression of the former Mayor of Manchester was positive, but that he needed to address two main issues whilst in No. 10.

When asked what his hopes are for the UK, Mr Trump began by sharing his love for Brits across the pond and discussing his familiar relationship with the UK. He began: “I love your country, and I have a lot of relationships with [the UK] through my mother in Scotland.”

Addressing his conversation with Mr Burnham, he admitted: “Frankly, we had a very good talk. I told him, you have two problems: immigration and energy. Energy you can solve by going to the North Sea and becoming rich, it’s one of the great energy resources, and I know them all, and the great North Sea oil is phenomenal.

“The environmental lunatics would have you believe there’s not that much left, but you get a lot of your energy from the North Sea, you buy it from Norway, and you’ve made Norway rich.

“They take it from the North Sea, and you have a bigger part of the North Sea, so the North Sea oil is a goldmine for you if you use it. So you can have either a rich nation or a poor nation; you’ll have a very rich nation if you use the North Sea because that’s a big thing.”

The other area of weakness that the president believes needs addressing is the growing issue of immigration in the UK. He went on: “The other is immigration. If you don’t stop people from pouring into your country from all over the world, you’re not going to have a country left.”

It didn’t take long for viewers to flock to the comments section to share their thoughts on the explosive interview online. One user penned: “Trump is spot on on every topic affecting the UK. Our ghastly Labour government would do well to take heed.”

Another agreed: “People in this country agree with Trump. Whether you like Trump or not, he’s sorted America out,” as a third chimed in with: “Trump is not wrong on anything. If we don’t get immigration under control, we’ll lose it.
