According to one TalkTV guest, prime minister Keir Starmer is a “dead man walking”. Journalist Sarah Vine, who was married to Conservative minister Michael Gove until 2022, appeared on Jeremy Kyle’s programme to discuss the Labour Party’s failures – leaving the PM humiliated once again.

It comes as ex-Labour chief of staff Morgan McSweeney claimed his mobile phone, which allegedly contained messages from Peter Mandelson, was stolen. McSweeney was key to appointing Mandelson as the US ambassador before his links to Jeffrey Epstein were made public. Messages contained on the phone could potentially show the party in a bad light.

On TalkTV, Kyle commented: “It does point the finger at a man, I think, very much so, who made a big play – quite rightly, in many people’s minds – about Boris Johnson and those WhatsApp messages during the Covid inquiry and lying and standards and it has come back…

“How much more are we having to take of a man who patently, if you looked at him yesterday, is either out of his depth, realises he’s up a backstreet without whatever, or has just been found out! It’s becoming almost ludicrous on a daily basis.”

Vine explained: “It’s very difficult to get rid of a sitting prime minister.” But the host told her: “The Tories did it quite well!”

Vine responded: “The Tories, in a funny kind of way, are a much more self-policing party. The Labour Party won’t get rid of him because he suits them. He’s taking all the flak. He’s a dead man walking-“ but was cut off.

Kyle asked: “Don’t you think he goes after the council elections?”

And his guest replied: “Well, maybe, but what are they going to replace him with?”
