Adam Brooks launched a blistering attack on Keir Starmer, accusing him of lying over the latest development in the Peter Mandelson scandal. A new report by The Guardian claimed that Mandelson failed the vetting process over his appointment as the UK’s ambassador to the US, but the Foreign Office overruled the decision.
Starmer claimed proper vetting measures had been taken, and he sacked Mandelson once he knew the full extent of his friendship with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Brooks has now criticised the prime minister, accusing him of misleading those around him, including the British public, and highlighted the growing frustration with his behaviour.
He fumed: “Are you telling me that Number 10 don’t read the papers? They watch all the programmes, they have someone monitoring the news. They know what’s going on.
“I’m just sick of the lies because he’s not just lying to parliament and his colleagues, he’s lying to the British public and we’re sick of it.”
The broadcaster continued: “This country is going to ruin. Society is breaking down, crime is rising at record paces, our economy is completely messed up.
“Small businesses like mine, we just want to survive under the next two years, let alone grow or take more people on. We’re in such a mess and the public have had enough.”
When he explained that one poll showed only 16 per cent believed Starmer over the latest scandal, TalkTV presenter Kevin O’Sullivan pointed out that that means 84 per cent think he’s lying.
Brooks went on: “The people know they can’t pull the wool over our eyes. He’s a liar and if he doesn’t know the answer, he changes the question. Like we see in Prime Minister’s Questions, he won’t answer the question.
“He’s a typical lawyer, typical barrister that knows how to deflect and knows how to get away. The lies are going to get him in trouble and it’s going to be worse because what I’m being told, if they found out on Tuesday that this was the case, they should’ve done it in PMQs on Wednesday.”
He claimed the government broke ministerial code by not addressing it during PMQs on Wednesday, declaring: “This is another breach.”
Brooks added: “It’s mess after mess. I don’t believe a word he says.”
