A UK meat supplier has collapsed into liquidation after failing to clear its outstanding debts.
West Yorkshire Meat Suppliers Limited was a specialist producer of meat and poultry products. The firm, based in Mildenhall, is facing a winding-up petition brought by British Gas Trading Limited, which was issued on March 30, 2026.
The company, registered at Unit A, 82 James Carter Road, Mildenhall, will have the petition to wind up heard at Liverpool Civil and Family Court on Tuesday, May 5. The meat supplier has been trading since 2016. The Petitioner’s Solicitor is Sian Phillips, Womble Bond Dickinson LLP.
A Winding Up Petition forces a company into compulsory liquidation as a consequence of unpaid debts. The decision to cease trading comes as the UK agricultural sector endures considerable financial strain.
Within the meat industry, projections indicate that more than a third of UK farms could shut down within the next five years due to changes made to inheritance tax (IHT).
The continuing conflict in the Middle East has also heightened anxiety amongst farmers, as soaring energy costs threaten to impact stock levels
