From April 6, the Department for Work and Pensions will provide state pensioners with an additional £11 per week. The DWP is increasing the state pension, offering state pensioners an extra £11 weekly or £44 monthly, in a much-needed uplift.
The full rate of the new state pension will see an increase of £11, bringing it to £241 per week. However, experts note that not every pensioner receives precisely this amount.vSince the triple lock‘s implementation in 2011, the state pension‘s value has surged far beyond average earnings or prices.
With a full new state pension set at £241 per week, it’s anticipated to be £30 per week (14%) higher than if it had been indexed to average earnings since 2011.
Indeed, whilst new state pensioners will receive an additional £11 per week, the full basic state pension is expected to rise by approximately an extra £440 annually.
The basic state pension will see a 4.8% increase to £184.90 per week, up from £176.45 in 2025/26.

Back in November, Labour Party Chancellor Rachel Reeves said: “Whether it’s our commitment to the triple lock or to rebuilding our NHS to cut waiting lists, we’re supporting pensioners to give them the security in retirement they deserve.
“At the Budget this week I will set out how we will take the fair choices to deliver on the country’s priorities to cut NHS waiting lists, cut national debt and cut the cost of living.”
