Donald Trump has threatened to “bomb the s***” out of Oman if it “gets in the way” of the US trying to strike a peace deal with Iran. The US President issued the stark warning as Iran and Oman reportedly move towards finalising an agreement covering commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, with Washington and Tehran vying for control of the strategically vital waterway.

Speaking to Fox News, Mr Trump said: “If Oman gets in the way, we’ll bomb the s*** out of them.” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the regime had reached an agreement with Oman over commercial shipping through the strait. He announced on Saturday: “Despite US obstruction, the talks have made positive progress over the past three weeks, and an agreement has been reached on the shipping route map.” The POTUS, meanwhile, has claimed he intends to make the Strait of Hormuz a territory of the US territory once the war with Iran is over.

He said on Friday: “After we finish defeating Iran, which is being very badly defeated – pretty soon, I’ll be declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States.

“Essentially, that’s what it is. We have a blockade. No ships get through unless we want them to.”

This latest development come after one of Iran’s top military chiefs threatened to “break” Mr Trump’s legs following his territorial claim over the Strait of Hormuz.

Major General Amir Hatami hit back at the President’s remarks, saying joking about taking control of the vital waterway was a “major mistake” because Iran had defenders who would “break your legs”.

Before the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East, the strait was a crucial international trade route, with roughly a fifth of the world’s oil passing through it.

A battle for control of the waterway since then has sent global fuel prices soaring.
