Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a direct warning to the British monarchy in a message shared via its news channel on the social messaging platform Telegram. The chilling threat, which is likely aimed at Britain’s leadership, warns against “further burdening its record” in the Middle East.
The statement came after the IRGC claimed US B-1 bombers flew from RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire during recent strikes against Iran. In the message, the group named the airbase, suggesting it could become a target, threatening “any base used to invade Iranian territory is our legitimate target”. The IRGC went on to falsely accuse the British monarchy of being “the main cause of the misfortunes of the people of our region” and having “a dark record” of dividing Islamic countries before warning it “not to burden its case any further”.

It also falsely claimed Britain had participated in recent US and Israeli military action against Iran.
RAF Fairford has been used by the US Air Force since March after ex-Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer authorised its use for what the Government described as “defensive” strikes.
Operated by the Royal Air Force, it is made available to the US Air Force under longstanding defence agreements and is one of the few European bases capable of hosting US B-1B Lancer strategic bombers.
The Gloucestershire base’s role in the conflict with Iran has proved controversial, with peaceful anti-war demonstrations held outside the base in protest against the US bombing campaign.
On Tuesday, a B1 bomber reportedly took off from that base, according to news outlet Axios.
The latest statement, titled “Warning to the British monarchy”, comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran, with Tehran repeatedly warning it could retaliate against countries it says assist military action against its territory.
Following a 12th consecutive night of US strikes, the Iranian military group warned “this time we will not allow America to replace its oil and ammunition reserves with deceptive ceasefires and then resume attacks”.
Earlier this month, the UK announced it would ban support for the group, designating the branch of the Iranian military under a new National Security Act.
A Government spokesperson said: “Our Armed Forces are ready to keep the United Kingdom safe from any kind of attacks, whether it’s on our soil or from abroad. The UK stands ready 24/7 to defend itself.
“This includes through operating a layered approach to air and missile defence, provided by Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force assets equipped with a range of advanced capabilities, working closely with our NATO allies.
“The UK’s approach to the conflict remains the same – we are committed to defending our people, our interests and our allies, acting in accordance with international law and not getting drawn into the wider conflict.”
