Piers Morgan has launched another scathing attack on Earl Charles Spencer after he claimed the media’s treatment of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “echoes” what happened to his sister, Princess Diana. Earl Spencer, 62, has made a number of damning claims against King Charles in his new book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, including that the monarch said “we’ll forget her soon enough” after Princess Diana’s death in 1997.
In an interview with the BBC, Earl Spencer has now turned his attention to the Sussexes, describing the press coverage of the couple as a “cancerous influence in their life”. Harry and Meghan, who recently returned to the UK six years after stepping down as working royals and relocating to California, have been highly critical of the media for several years.

“If you look at an article in a tabloid about Diana or… Harry and Meghan, you know, they can be really, really unpleasant,” Earl Spencer said.
“And I think it would be really beholden on people to learn from Diana’s example.”
Piers has now said it is “beyond parody” that Earl Spencer has made such claims while simultaneously portraying King Charles in a “malign, cancerous way” in his book.
“I’ve seen some brass necks in my time but Earl Spencer slamming the ‘malign cancerous’ way the media supposedly treat Harry/Meghan, whilst simultaneously flogging his book which treats King Charles in a malign cancerous way (as he actually battles cancer) is beyond parody,” he wrote on X.
The former Good Morning Britain presenter has been highly vocal about his disdain for Earl Spencer’s book, recently branding him “Earl Hypocrite” after a 1998 interview resurfaced in which he criticised people for profiting from a family member’s death.
He said at the time: “People have lost track of this. Can you imagine anybody making a profit out of their brother or sister’s death? It’s so low it’s inconceivable. I don’t know anyone who would.
“But because the press can present Diana as a public figure, rather than as my sister, they can make it sort of a possible accusation, whereas of course it’s completely out of the question.
“I would never profit from Diana’s death.”
However, many have alleged that Earl Spencer’s book is doing exactly that.
