Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s latest bombshell move is a “slap in the face” for William, and “serious damage” could be done, an expert has suggested. It emerged last night that the couple are planning to move back to the UK “for an extended period” after years spent living in California. Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, have been at odds for years, with the release of the Duke of Sussex’s tell-all memoir, Spare, only deepening the row.
“It’s a huge slap in the face for William, and it does also create serious risks for the monarchy,” royal reporter Tom Sykes told Page Six. He went on to describe the prospect as “a very, very dangerous situation”, adding that “there’s no way that the late Queen Elizabeth II would’ve allowed this to happen.” Meghan and Harry quit the UK in 2020 and eventually moved to Montecito, California, with their two children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5.

The couple made a dramatic exit from public life and moved to California six years ago, when it became clear they could not be part-time royals.
On their way out, they attacked the Royals and Britain, with the late Queen making it clear that the Sussexes could not juggle being working Royals while earning money in the private sector.
The 2020 Sandringham Agreement – dubbed “Megxit” – ruled the couple could not be half-in-half-out royals.
